Description
The Steyr GB is a double-action, blowback-operated, semi automatic pistol that was developed in the 1970’s by the former manufacturer Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG, however, did not see production until later in 1981. The Steyr GB was produced primarily in response to an announcement by the Austrian Army that it was seeking a replacement for their then-standard Walther P-38’s sidearm. Unfortunately, the Steyr GB failed to triumph as the new standard sidearm in either Austria’s or the US’s military (to the Glock 17 and the Beretta M92F, respectively). As it was only produced until 1988, it is estimated that only 15,000-20,000 of the GB models were ever produced.
