Description

The Smith & Wesson Model 60, the world’s first stainless steel revolver, was a success from its introduction in 1965. Hailed as an exceptional backup weapon, the Model 60 is a stainless steel version of the Model 36 (“Chiefs Special”) and began the era of stainless steel handgun production. The use of a stainless steel frame was imperative to creating long-lasting, concealable revolvers due to constant exposure to heat, moisture, salt, etc, when carried in a pocket or around an ankle. Like nearly all other “J-frame” S&W revolvers, it has a 5-round capacity in a swing-out chamber, and features an exposed hammer.
