Description

The Škorpion and its variants are Czechoslovakian submachine gun/machine pistols developed by Miroslav Rybář in the late 1950s. Initially, they were produced by the Česká Zbrojovka arms factory however, in the 1980s, the manufacturing rights were later acquired by the Yugoslavian company Crvena Zastava factory (currently Zastava Arms). The Škorpion is a select-fire, straight blowback-operated, compact weapon that fires from the closed bolt position. Initially, it was designed as a more formidable sidearm (rather than a pistol) for typically non-combatant soldiers or as personal defense weapons yet, it has been adopted into service within the Czechoslovak Army. Currently, the Škorpion is used by militaries in the Czech Republic as well as Slovakia, Angola, Croatia, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Mozambique and Uganda.
