The Ruger SP101 series of revolvers were first introduced in 1985 as the smaller framed complement to the GP-100 series, which replaced the popular Six Series revolvers. They exhibit the same craftsmanship as the GP-100 series, which is comprised of three large stainless steel segments, which add durability to the weapon when firing the .38 Special or .357 Magnum round. The SP101s are double-action revolvers made with either regular hammers, or spur-less hammers for practical carrying.
