Description

The MP7 submachine gun was first announced in 2000 and later entered production in 2001 by the renowned manufacturer, Heckler & Koch GmbH. The HK MP7 was designed in conjunction with the new 4.6x30mm HK cartridge to meet NATO requests for a “Personal Defense Weapon” (PDW)-class firearm with the ability to defeat current standards in body armor. In addition to the ammunition upgrade, the MP7 boasts a Picatinny rail, ambidextrous fire mode selectors, a folding forward grip and a telescoped buttstock. By 2007, the ergonomically sound MP7 had been officially adopted by the German military as well as certain German special police units. The British Military Police has also issued the HK MP7A1 to its personnel since 2005.
