Description

The Remington Model 760 pump-rifle was made with a 22″ barrel and was manufactured from 1952 to 1981. The 760 model used a detachable 4 shot box magazine originally produced only for the 300 Savage, 30-06 and 35 Remington calibers. Throughout production, other calibers were added, including; 270 Win., 257 Roberts, 244 Rem., 308 Win., 243 Win., 280 Rem., 222 Rem., and 223 Rem. Initial production of the 760 had a plain uncheckered walnut buttstock with a grooved forearm however in 1953 the 760ADL version boasted deluxe wood, machine checkering, a pistol grip cap and sling swivels. This firearm was also the predecessor to Remington Model 7600.

This rifle is particularly popular with Eastern hunters in heavily wooded or brushy terrain because of its power and ability to make fast follow-up shots without being classed as a semi-auto which are illegal to hunt with in many states.
