Description
The Russian-made Makarov PM is a semi-automatic pistol that served as the Soviet Union’s standard military sidearm from 1951-1991. It was designed in the late 1940s by Nikolai Fyodorovich Makarov, and replaced the Tokarev TT-33 semi-automatic pistol. The Makarov was originally produced to chamber the specially-made 9x18mm Makarov cartridge, however in more recent times, manufactures have been offering the Makarov in .380 ACP and .32 NAA formats. The Makarov pistol is a selective double-action, blowback-operated pistol with an 8 round capacity. The Makarov PM was replaced by the Yarygin PYa pistol as the standard military sidearm however even today, many Makarov’s are fielded by Russian Military and Police personnel. Additionally, the Makarov PM is still used as the official service pistol of some Eastern European and Former Soviet countries.
