Description

The “M240” is the American designation given to the gas-operated, air-cooled and belt-fed Fabrique Nationale “MAG 58” medium machine gun. Since the mid 1990s, the MAG 58 has been employed by the US Army as the M240 which serves as a larger alternative to the M249 SAW to be used primarily as a coaxial weapon for vehicle applications (first or secondary armament for humvees, tanks, helicopters, etc). This particular model is the M240B, which allows the weapon to be removed from a vehicle mount and configured for ground combat. The M240B is a punishing brute when deployed; firing 650–950 7.62mmx51 rounds per minute with unsurpassed reliability when compared to others of its kind. Currently, numerous militaries around the world service this weapon in a multitude of different roles.
