Description

This shotgun is a derivation of the Ithaca Model 87 and is a prototype that was created during the late 1980’s by the Ithaca Gun Company in an attempt to construct a more resistant firearm for users engaged in marine environments. The Marine 87 is made primarily of stainless steel with the exception of the buttstock, pistol grip and the fore-end. The Model 87 is in fact, the same shotgun as the more familiar Model 37. For a brief period the shotgun was renamed during one of many ownership changes within the Ithaca Gun Company. The Model 37; which is one of the oldest pump action shotguns still in production, was introduced in 1937 and based on a design patented by John M. Browning in 1915 and improved upon by Harry Howland of Ithaca Gun Company in 1931.
