Description
The Desert Eagle is a large-bore, gas-operated, semi-automatic pistol that is world-renowned. The Desert Eagle is the brainchild of both Magnum Research, Inc. (an American company) and Israel Military Industries (IMI). The first blueprints for the Desert Eagle were laid in the late 1970’s however it was not until the early 1980’s, with patents filed by Magnum Research, that the weapon’s design really began to take shape. While early models were produced by Magnum Research, it was the involvement of IMI that brought the weapon to a new level and thus creating the monster we know today. IMI took the designs from Magnum Research (under contract) and were able to refine the pistol into a fully functional .357 Magnum model, which 1,000 of which was produced (now collector items). From the mid-1980’s until the late-1990’s, the Desert Eagle saw many improvements, upgrades and tweaks including; the incorporation of polygonal rifling to enhance accuracy, a two-stage trigger, and an enlarged safety lever and slide release. Throughout these years, IMI and Magnum Research also developed the Desert Eagle in various calibers, including the .44 Magnum, .41 Magnum, and the potent .50 AE version.
Being the former title holder of “Most Powerful Handgun in the World”, the Desert Eagle instantly provokes a powerful aura to those wielding it. The Desert Eagle, while not ideal for target use or combat fielding, still makes an ideal weapon for anyone looking to make a more aggressive visual statement. Adding to this particular model’s bravado is a 14 inch barrel, fit to make an even more powerful presentation.
