Description

The Daewoo K2 assault rifle was produced during the mid-1980s as an improved version of the K1, which itself was to be the replacement rifle for the South Korean Army from the US-designed M16A1. Once manufactured by the presently defunct Daewoo Corporation, the K2 and the carbine version – the K1A1, has been the standard service rifle for the South Korean Army since the early 1980s. Using design elements from the renowned M16 and AK-47 platforms, the K2 is touted as a sturdy and combat rifle. The K2 is a selective fire weapon capable of semi-auto, full-auto or 3-round burst firing modes. Many modular changes can be made to the K2 to specialize/augment its capabilities in combat.
