Description
Derived from the Spanish word for “ball”, a bola is a throwing weapon made from a series of connected strings with weighted balls at the end of each string. Bolas were used to wrangle livestock or bring down game by tangling limbs and preventing the animal from fleeing. While mostly attributed to the gauchos of South American, forms of bolas were used by both Chinese and Eskimo hunters.
