Description
The Astra 400 is a semi-automatic pistol produced by the Spanish weapons manufacturer “Astra-Unceta y Cia SA” from 1921-1946. Selected as the new standard sidearm of the Spanish military, the Astra 400 was a blowback operated, hammer fired, single action semiautomatic pistol that was primarily chambered to fire eight-9mm rounds. The long barrel and heavy weight of the Astra 400 made it comfortable to fire and accurate and was enjoyed by various users. Throughout the years of production, it is estimated that slightly over 105,000 units were produced and many were exported to other countries such as Nazi Germany, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, and France. The Spanish military later replaced the Astra 400 at the end of World War II and in 1946 officially adopted the “Star Model A” pistol.
