The SIG-Sauer P225 model was developed for German police forces during the mid-1970s and is effectively a compact version of the P220. Operating identically to the P220, the P225 only differs in the size of the slide and barrel. Many law enforcement agencies worldwide have adopted the P225 including Switzerland, Germany, and the US. The P225 was also used by the Canadian armed forces.
