This sniper mask was produced in very limited numbers during WWI and briefly used by German marksmen. The utility was to have your rifles scope fit in the gap on the left side of the mask so you can stand over the top of the trench with only your head exposed.
The mask was recently featured in HBO's Boardwalk Empire
