The Colt Python was first introduced in 1955 as a premier power revolver, capable of firing six powerful .357 Magnum rounds. The Pythons are easily distinguishable due to their full barrel underlug and ventilated ribs on top of the barrel. Additionally, Pythons boast top-quality finishes on a robust frame with a smooth trigger pull, adjustable rear sights, and a tight cylinder lock-up; all of which attribute to its accuracy. The longer 6 or 8 inch barrels offered are typically favored among handgun hunters. Pythons are widely considered to be first-class weapons by gun enthusiasts even by today’s standards.
